All I know is that local hosts in L.A. often complain that they don't make a lot and at least a couple of them, Petros and Money, are nationally syndicated. So, I don't know that too many are getting rich of being talk show hosts. Plus, all the L.A. guys seem to supplement their radio gigs with other jobs, like play-by-play or color commentary or working on the local TV news station. They also do a lot of personal appearances too. So, based on not much personal knowledge, I'd say that you can make a decent living doing it, but have to work pretty hard and get some good breaks get there.
