I'm not surprised by Ralph since he's been there forever. But Tom Tolbert surprised me.

All I know is that local hosts in L.A. often complain that they don't make a lot and at least a couple of them, Petros and Money, are nationally syndicated. So, I don't know that too many are getting rich of being talk show hosts. Plus, all the L.A. guys seem to supplement their radio gigs with other jobs, like play-by-play or color commentary or working on the local TV news station. They also do a lot of personal appearances too. So, based on not much personal knowledge, I'd say that you can make a decent living doing it, but have to work pretty hard and get some good breaks get there.

Alot easier said than done. Ive been working in sports radio for over 4 years now. It is fun, but also demanding, bad hours, hard to advance, etc... Most people arent making the kind of money you see on that list. Those are the exceptions, not the norm...

I want to get into this. I don't have a communications degree though and all you can really find to get started are internships.

A good way to get your foot in the door is through promotions. Allows you to get your foot into the door and network, plus its a pretty easy job. Just go to sporting events and stuff and give stuff away. Thats how I got started, then worked my way up from there.

I'd be willing to bet that list should be considered the exceptions in the field for that area, not the norm.  I'll bet most are 50-75k tops.

I can imagine how good LaVar/Dukes and Czaban/Pollin have it...Maybe Rockdeep could give a good estimate

I don't think Lavar makes that much since he's new to the game.. Dukes been around but he was better doing regular guy talk radio not just sports... Czabe and Pollin probably make alot more since they been doing sports talk in the area forever... Czabe also has a syndicated morning sports show.  Best sports talk in the area is The Junkies..

I wonder how much wise and kushner make... if they slack on the ratings maybe Rock with his boy Kevin will take the miday slot.

Thanks for the tip. I might put together a gameplan about how to get more proactive about this.
